Happy work experience student

Dear Andrew,

Thank you for inviting me to the talk last week with the former Met Police Commissioner Lord Blair (at Sussex University, courtesy of the Faculty of Law). It was a very interesting evening and I can now proudly say I have witnessed a protest!

It was lovely to meet the M23Law and HS&Co staff and to see you again. Everyone was very friendly. I like the new office, much nicer than the one located in Broadfield.

Work experience student more inclined to the world of Law testimonial

Dear All at M23Law and HS&Co,

Thank you for providing me a place for work experience. During my time at M23Law and HS&Co I have had an amazing journey. My colleagues were exceptionally friendly and pleasant and were always willing to help which gave me a warm welcome as it can sometimes be difficult to adapt to a new surrounding. Not only did I develop new skills but I have also learnt some essential facts which I am sure will be incredibly useful to me in the future.

During my time at work I felt I was part of the team because they involved and engaged me by asking for my opinions and ideas. Attending meetings and being introduced to a combination of lawyers specialising in different areas of law enabled me to think about the type of route I would like to enter if I was to work in the legal profession.

To broaden my understanding about law, Hedley-Saunders, Principal of M23Law and HS&Co, introduced me to the website of ‘The Law Society’ which was a great help as it answered many of my questions.

I feel I have enriched and enhanced my knowledge about the world of History after Andrew Parker, Head of Criminal Law and Business, educated me about the Battle of Lewes.

Due to the fact they frequently travel to local, regional and national police station I had the opportunity to accompany my colleague on a visit to the police station where I had the chance to meet a police officer and ask as many questions as I would like as well as shown some of the tools they carry around.

One of my most enjoyable moments was accompanying my colleague, Geoff Wise, Head of Motoring Law and Case Progression, to a consultation and taking down notes because you meet new people and learn to see the world through their eyes as well as hear about their stories which can sometimes be very interesting. I have learnt that many people always have different reasons for what they do, reasons that make perfect sense to them. There is no absolute truth, just different versions of reality. My main purpose of going to work experience was to increase my confidence and develop good communication skills. At the end of the week I felt I could tick them off my checklist.

After finishing my work experience with M23Law and HS&CoI feel I am more inclined to the world of Law as it is such a fascinating profession, with different challenges lying ahead of you every day.

Work experience enjoys time at M23Law and HS&Co

I have thoroughly enjoyed my week at M23Law and HS & Co and have had a good insight into what practising Criminal law involves.
During the week, I have had the opportunity to attend and sit in on proceedings both at police station and Crown court level. Furthermore I was given various opportunities to clerk a conference between one of the firm’s lawyers and a client, which was very interesting and insightful into the type of work involved. I’m very appreciative of being invited to the Barristers Chambers in London and therefore had the opportunity to meet and speak to others in the profession, gaining potentially some more experience as a result.

I have previously completed work experience at another firm however I feel I have had many more opportunities and a lot more responsibility here at M23Law and HS & Co, which I am very grateful for.
The colleagues are both very welcoming and were happy to answer any queries I had; I would recommend anyone wanting to pursue a career in law to partake in work experience here.

Thank you again.
Lauren
